Le travail de Carolyn Garcia s’intéresse à la notion de paysage dans toutes ses dimensions: regardé, arpenté, habité, incarné, imaginé…
Dans une approche de recherche-création, elle glane des matières naturelles et des matériaux de récupération pour les transformer en couleurs et supports de ses compositions abstraites.
Combinant œuvres personnelles et projets participatifs, Carolyn explore la matérialité spécifique du lieu de création, pour révéler comment nos liens avec le paysage façonnent nos identités, nos mémoires, et nos rapports au temps.
Architecte de formation, elle collabore depuis 2011 avec des organisations engagées dans le domaine de la construction durable en Haïti. La culture haïtienne, riche et complexe, imprègne profondément sa pratique artistique et sa vision du monde.
Aujourd’hui installée près de Lyon et mère de deux enfants, dont un garçon en situation de handicap, Carolyn partage son temps entre sa famille, son travail d’atelier, l’accompagnement de projets en Haïti, et le développement de projets participatifs inclusifs mêlant art et conscience écologique.
Carolyn Garcia's work explores the concept of landscape in all its dimensions: observed, explored, inhabited, embodied, imagined…
She gathers natural materials and found materials to develop her color palette and and supports for her abstract compositions.
Through both studio work and participatory projects, Carolyn explores the specific materiality of a place to reveal how our experiences of a landscape can shape our identities, our memories, and our relationships to time.
As an architect, she has been working in Haïti since 2011, helping several organizations to promote sustainable housing. The rich and complex Haitian culture greatly informs her artistic practice and her whole life.
Living nearby Lyon (France) and mother of two, including a son with disability, Carolyn divides her time between her family, her studio work, supporting projects in Haiti, and developing collective projects that combine art and ecological awareness.
